Lab-grown Red Blood Cells Showing Promise

Led by British-based NHSBT (National Health Science Blood & Transplant), a recent study is showing promising results for individuals who rely on blood transfusions to stay alive. 

​The RESTORE Trial has successfully transferred lab-grown red blood cells into a human patient.  If this success continues, we could see a reduction in frequency and number of complications patients with Sickle Cell Disease face when receiving blood transfusions.
